Founded in 2012 the Collections Fund is designed to support the acquisition of significant contemporary works to be gifted to Contemporary Art Society museum members across the UK.
A key aim of the scheme is to draw together the knowledge, experience and expertise of private collectors with that of museum curators in a short and intense programme of research leading to an acquisition. The scheme provides curators with a framework for research, including studio visits and discussion with the members of the Collections Fund Committee.
For 2016 the Contemporary Art Society enters a new partnership with Frieze London. The Collections Fund at Frieze will provide an acquisitions budget of up to £50,000 to purchase a significant work at Frieze London in October 2016. In addition to this, the Contemporary Art Society will provide a research bursary of £2,000 to support the curator’s travel and accommodation. Please note that all transport, crating and conservation costs must be covered by the museum.
